Our initial objective for this project was centered around highlighting the significance of diversity within Boston's culinary landscape. We had planned to conduct interviews with Koshari Mama and Lucy Ethiopian Cafe, in addition to Silk Road Uyghur Cuisine. However, upon arranging these interviews and proceeding to our designated location, we discovered that our intended interviewee was unable to be part of our project due to illness, and the owner of Lucy Ethiopian Cafe was out of town.

 

Consequently, this situation led us to delve into a more profound narrative, shedding light on the challenges faced by the Muslim community in China. We made the decision to shift our focus towards the experiences of two family members who relocated from Xinjiang, China to Massachusetts in pursuit of safety and stability.

 

As a result, our new objective for this narrative is to raise awareness regarding the Uyghur community and culture here in Boston.
